Terms of service

1. Who we are

Tiller, tillerstudio.app and Tiller Sync are provided by Akagi Universe, a sole proprietorship owned by Hyeonu Kim ("we", "us"), 402-977A, H Tower, 12 Teheran-ro 70-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul 06193, Republic of Korea. Business registration no. 436-72-00680. You can reach us at akagiuniverse@gmail.com.

These terms apply when you download or use the Tiller desktop app ("the app"), use this website, or subscribe to Tiller Sync ("Sync"). By doing so you agree to them. If you use Tiller for an organization, you agree on its behalf.

2. Orders and payment

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle's buyer terms apply to your purchase in addition to these terms.

3. The app

The app is free. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on computers you control. You may not sell, sublicense or redistribute modified copies of the app, or remove its notices. Source code we publish is shared under the licence stated in its repository.

The app drives third-party AI engines, such as Claude Code by Anthropic and Codex by OpenAI, using your own accounts with those providers. Your use of those engines is governed by the providers' own terms and is billed by them. Tiller does not include, resell or guarantee access to any AI model.

You are responsible for what you ask an agent to do and for reviewing its work before you rely on it, including changes it makes to files, commands it runs and pages it opens in the built-in browser.

4. Tiller Sync

• Sync is a subscription that stores an end-to-end encrypted copy of the vaults you connect and keeps your computers up to date. It is offered monthly or yearly at the price shown on the pricing page at the time of purchase, plus any tax.
• A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; it then runs until the end of the period you have paid for.
• When a subscription ends, your cloud vaults become read-only: you can download them for 30 days, after which we may delete them. Your local vaults are not affected.
• Your vault password is the only way to decrypt your cloud vaults. We cannot recover it or your data if it is lost.
• Plan limits (number of cloud vaults, storage, file size) are listed on the pricing page. We may change prices or limits for future periods with at least 30 days' notice; changes do not affect a period you have already paid for.

5. Refunds

Refunds are handled by Paddle under our refund policy.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use the app or Sync to:

• break the law, or infringe anyone's rights;
• store or share illegal content, including child sexual abuse material and non-consensual intimate imagery;
• create malware, attack systems you are not authorised to test, or send spam;
• break the terms or usage policies of the AI providers whose engines you use;
• overload, probe or interfere with the Sync service, or get around its limits.

We may suspend or close a Sync account that breaks these rules. Because your data is encrypted on your device, we do not and cannot review its contents.

7. Your content

Your conversations, files and vaults belong to you. You give us only the permission needed to store and transmit your encrypted data to provide Sync.

8. Pre-release software

The app is pre-release software. It may change, contain bugs or lose data; keep backups of anything important. Features described as "coming soon" are not yet available and may change before release.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The app and Sync are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by AI engines, third-party services or actions an agent takes on your instructions. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Sync in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using Tiller at any time. We may stop offering the app or Sync; if we end Sync, we will give at least 30 days' notice and a refund for any unused prepaid period.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date, and tell Sync subscribers about material changes before they take effect.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes go to the courts of Seoul, unless the consumer law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
